Women in the Profession

The primary purpose of the Women in the Profession Section is to identify areas impacting women in the law and provide resources and education to maintain women lawyer membership within the Bar. To achieve this primary purpose, the Section has identified three key areas of focus: The current status of women in the legal profession; Barriers that prevent women attorneys from full participation in the work, responsibilities and rewards of the profession, including problems encountered by women attorneys in pursuing their professional careers; and Quality of life issues in the profession that affect both male and female attorneys. For each of these areas, the Section will provide education to its members (male and female) through continued legal education, publications and other initiatives. The Section will provide a network of members within all practice areas, will promote diversity and inclusion within the Bar, will foster future leaders within the profession, and will foster a mentoring relationship with the state’s two law schools.
